To avoid being ganked in Highsec, no matter if your mining or missioning, here is a combination of procedures that will keep you safe.

There is not just one method to save yourself from Highsec gankers. But it is doable and will safe you alot of ships if you follow this guide without the need to shoot ONCE.

We will go through the basic points and than we will go through some tactics to use.

BASIC POINTS
Here are the BASIC points that you should ALWAYS follow.

1- If you're mining or missioning, follow the alligning procedure and method shown in This video (He talks both about mining and missioning.), but try to be in movement when aligned, you can use pre-set safespots or other methods to have an alignment point that u can warp to when you need to.

2- Have the corporations and alliances from our MOST WANTED list added to your personal or corporation contacts and set them to RED (If you are in an NPC corp, you can only add them to your personal contacts.) so you always can see them when they enter your system in your LOCAL chat channel.

Keep your local chat open AT ALL TIMES and make sure you can see as much of it as possible and pay attention to it! If they enter your system, DOCK!

Anyone who EVER ganked you before should be added to your contacts RED list or even their entire Corporation or Alliance, if needed.

If you don't know how to add contacts, here is how

3- Learn how to use D-SCAN and ALWAYS spam it at 14AU, 360. (Yes, spam means press the scan shortcut key at least every 5 or 10 seconds. This is not an exaggeration.) If you see COMBAT PROBES or any of the common ganking ships in your D-SCAN results, warp off.

The most common Ganking ships in HighSec are: Catalyst, Thrasher, Coercer, Atron and Tornado.

**Notice if you are mining or ratting in an Asteroid belt, or any directly warpable location, they don't need probes at all, they can warp right where u are!

Learn more about the Dscan and how the enemy will find you and kill you in no time if you dont pay attention!!  Watch Video

TACTICS
Now for some TACTICS to follow. Apart from ALWAYS following the points above you can and should also use:

1- BAIT SHIP
Make a BAIT ship, that means it is the same ship that you would usually use or similar one, but TANKED to the max. At the bottom of the post there will be some ship/fitting examples.

**Avoid this if the ship that you usually use is over 200 million ISK. If it is, when you see them in local, just dock and wait them out, but ofc,it's up to you, if u want, you can max tank any ship.

The idea here is that when you are regularly mining or missioning and you see them show up on local as red (since you have previously set them to red in your contact list) Just DOCK, switch to your BAIT ship and go back to the belt or mission (now don't get too much damage from the mission rats or they will have done half the gankers job)

Make your MAX-TANKED BAIT believable. That means, if its a miner, put some mining lasers and mine so it looks real. If missioning, put some guns on so that you don't just look like bait.

At the bottom of this post you can see some examples of max tanked bait ships.

You can just apply the principles to any other ship you want, the idea is to get as high damage protection as possible on all damage types (specially Thermal and kinetic if possible) and as much EHP as possible.

The idea behind the BAIT ship is that when they engage you, with a bit of luck, they will not be able to kill you before CONCORD comes and kills them, since they are counting on you flying a regular ship, not a MAX-tanked one.

If you do that every now and than when they show up in local, just dock and switch to your bait ship and get back to the field,  they will NEVER know if you are flying a bait ship or a real one, making their plans harder and doubt if attacking you next time, forcing them to change their tactics/approach or at least fail most times they try.

This tactic does involve some risk, but if u wanna be more proactive on fighting them, other than hiding, this is a good way to go, or ofc, joining the force. Otherwise, when u see them in local, simply dock.

2- CALL IN CONCORD
You can use an alt character to simply shoot you once when you are in the belt or spot you wish to mine/mission. Your alt can use a rooky ship (corvette).

This will trigger CONCORD to come and kill your alt, but CONCORD will stay by you so that if gankers arrive CONCORD will engage them much faster. Make several alts to do that and A LOT of CONCORD will appear. (Notice your alt will take a security hit for unlawfully engaging) But u could make a specific alt JUST for that.

3- NO RESPONSE
DO NOT respond to them or reply or contact them in ANY WAY. Let them talk all they want, JUST IGNORE THEM, they are looking for a response.

If you IGNORE THEM 100% in their comments in local or if they try to contact you or mail etc, they will lose half their  fun! They LOVE to engage you and trigger you. THEY DONT CARE about your reply, they just want you TO REPLY! Just DON'T!

If you combine ALL the above points and methods in this list, you will give the gankers a MUCH HARDER time, and increase dramatlically your chance of survival.

Any questions or doubts, please dont hesitate to contact one of our Officers, we will do what we can to help you.

Fly safe.
